Very satisfied with how they have responded to the increase in salary, have progressed very quickly on that front but would not say they are paying above and beyond.

Don't know enough about the progression of pay and bonuses yet

We recently had a 7% pay increase which was obviously well received. I am very happy with my current pay for the level I am at. I believe the pay reviews are regular and decent. I don't believe the bonuses are great (but I could be wrong)

I do not think the pay is very competitive. While there has been recent adjustments to the pay bands, I think there is still work to be don to achieve greater pay equity and reflect the income junior staff produce.

Where everything is so budget dependent and as a junior you have pretty much no control over workflow, what actually gets billed or discounted, and paid for the possibility of achieving a bonus seems pretty illusory. While I got one last year, I'm pretty sure this was only possible where I had a reduced PROFs budget through to August despite pulling some 7 to 7 days where I would constantly be bailing on plans after finishing Proofs' I know I'm not paid terribly but from talking to other people at the same PQE I know LN is a bit out of step. I understand it is about balancing having reasonable charge out rates and meeting other overheads, but definitely it was a bit demoralising when I started after fives years of study on about $15k less than my peers, and would take home about 10% of my charge out rate hourly after deductions. There should definitely be an accessible and implemented TOIL policy - it is not as though people can't tell when someone is working overtime.

Low pay, at least initially, although no worse than other law firms.

Bonus scheme is not good, doesn't provide much incentive
Graduate, Auckland
They incentivise hard work.

I cannot speak about the pay at other levels, but as a Summer Clerk the pay is relatively average. It is definitely great that it is above minimum and living wage though.
Intern, Auckland
The pay is not too bad. It is in line with living wage. However, this is quite standard within medium-large firms and there is more money for Summer Clerks in smaller firms. However, you have to toss up the career progression opportunities Lane Neave provides compared to that of a smaller firm.
Intern, Christchurch
I am very satisfied with my pay, and I appreciate that Lane Neave gave us a raise in our salaries in order to meet the costs of living standards.
Intern, Christchurch
The pay is decent, qualifying for a bonus under the bonus scheme is unrealistic to achieve / difficult for juniors to have control over as it is based on billables far over and above your budget
Graduate, Auckland
As summer clerks we are on living wage which is alright considering we are gaining lots of valuable experience from the firm, however I think other firms pay more.
Intern, Auckland
I am aware that I am not even a qualified lawyer yet. I believe the pay fairly reflects the experience and ability that I have.
Intern, Christchurch
I am on a salary rate for a short term period so it is difficult to comment.
Intern, Christchurch
I think my pay is reasonable despite me coming back for a second summer without an increase.
