Emma Eason

I decided to apply for Ryman because they have a good reputation and made helping residents live their best lives a priority.

Emma Eason loved her Ryman Graduate Programme experience so much that she’s now busy building her career in the Ryman Clinical team.

Emma began as an HR Administrator and then moved into the Clinical and Quality team as a Project Coordinator. Her last rotation saw her in the Quality team where she worked on village auditing.

In her rotation within the Clinical and Quality team, Emma found her passion and pursued it as a permanent opportunity.

“My second rotation is what gave me my passion for staying at Ryman, because I got introduced to a lot of projects and a lot of different things that’s going on in the clinical and quality space, that was the highlight for me getting to showcase my skills (that were) a bit more relevant to what I’d studied and could apply some research.”

Emma joined the first cohort of graduates in 2021 after completing her PhD at the University of Canterbury.

As her research was in aged care, Ryman seemed like a good fit.

“I decided to apply for Ryman because they have a good reputation and made helping residents live their best lives a priority.”

That sense of purpose – doing the best for residents – led her onto a successful journey in the programme.

An advantage of the rotational programme was that it allowed her to find her current permanent role – one that she is passionate about and supports her long-term career goals.

“The rotation system is extremely beneficial because I’ve been introduced to so many parts of the business, …I had many opportunities to engage with villages and go to construction sites.”

The application and induction process got her off to a great start at Ryman.

“Everybody was so friendly and welcoming, the people that organised the programme put so much thought into it, it kind of underpins the values right, so you know that you’re in a good place because of how you are treated.”

Being able to build strong relationships with her manager and interact with a range of other teams gave Emma the opportunity to learn about the business, and always left her feeling supported.

“The thing that surprised me the most is how true to the values they were, coming here and people are genuinely kind and genuinely want to help you succeed and develop, that’s amazing because that opportunity is not provided everywhere.”

Emma recently moved into her current role as a Senior Operations Project Coordinator, where she plans to keep growing and evolving her skillset while building on the training opportunities she has received as she progresses into Ryman’s LEAP leadership programme in 2023.

In her current role she spends her time collaborating and working on projects in the Operations, Clinical, and Quality space by creating new initiatives and delivering projects from beginning to end.

During her time in the Graduate Programme Emma was able to find herself a rewarding role where she is passionate about what she does.

“Doing the research, doing the evaluation of certain things and then making those changes to improve the residents’ lives, that’s what makes me so happy, so I’m so passionate about my role I love it, I’m just really happy to be where I am and help people”.
